Omni-Channel is Still the Word of the Day: HSO at NRF Big Show 2015

In January, HSO attended the annual NRF (National Retail Foundation) ‘Big Show’ in New York City. As one of a select few Microsoft Partners in attendance, we were treated to an industry show that displayed the major tech trends set to influence the retail industry in 2015.

There was a strong Microsoft presence at the NRF Big Show, with HSO talking to multiple retail organisations about Microsoft Dynamics AX ERP. The functionality of Microsoft Dynamics AX and its alignment with retail business requirements was praised by many, including forefront Microsoft ERP blogger Brandon George.

George suggested that omni-channel is still very much a focus area for retailers, but noted a migration from a focus on individual channels to providing a seamless, holistic shopping experience: “Retailers are starting to ask more questions about how to make the connections between channels, not a specific channel focus”. George went on to state that this blurring of channels is helping retailers to drive customer engagement and brand loyalty via a consistent shopping experience between the online and physical store.

With the retail sector experiencing renewed growth after a successful festive period, the market is more competitive than ever. The news from the NRF Big Show says to us that retail success will not be defined by not only operating omni-channel, but making the most of the available channels, and optimizing sales across all platforms to capture the full retail audience.
