Tomorrow's Retail Innovation; Social Sales

ERP is able to tackle the key challenges that retailers face today, but also has an important role in driving the innovative ideas that will fuel the future of the sector. With retailers striving to find new, more effective routes to market, HSO research highlights the potential of making direct sales on social media sites.

Direct Social Payment

28% of respondents to a recent HSO survey were open to making at least some purchases in this way rather than through a traditional online sales model.

Social media channels are already exploring the potential of offering direct payment capabilities on their sites. Last summer, Facebook announced a new self-developed payments feature for the Facebook Messenger app, which enables people to make payments to friends and associates directly via the site – and some businesses have experimented with direct payments on social media sites in the past.

ERP; flexible, scalable, versatile

The survey results highlight a clear appetite from the public for this kind of service. HSO believes that it could represent a significant potential new route to market for these organisations as they battle to establish an edge over their rivals and that the time is therefore ripe for forward-thinking retailers to start exploring this as an option.

Once again ERP can act as the facilitator for such an approach, helping retailers engage with customers and utilise social commerce. It’s all about connecting social media to ecommerce and providing yet another engagement and point of sale to secure transactions.
